Making the Perfect Roasted Green Beans

Green beans are something that many people know they should eat, but don’t really want to eat. This is due to the fact that many people do not know how to make these beans in a way that is appealing to them. Most people will cook them until they become slightly mushy which can be very off putting. However, there is a different way that you can cook green beans that makes them more appealing.

Roasted green beans are a method that you can use with these vegetables without having them turn mushy. To get the beans tender as well as crisp, roasting is the best option.  Roasted green beans are easy to make, quick and can be mixed with a number of toppings. The most common topping that people use is Parmesan cheese.

If you want to make roasted green beans you will need to have some trimmed green beans, olive oil, salt and pepper. Some of the optional ingredients you can use also include garlic powder and grated Parmesan. It is best that you test the flavoring of the beans as you use the recipe because you want to make the roasted green beans in a way that you enjoy.

To start making the roasted green beans you need to preheat your oven. This is an important step because preheating will ensure that your beans do not lie in the oil and other seasoning for too long. It will also increase the speed at which the green beans cook. The oven should be preheated to 425°F.

While the oven heats you should line a baking sheet with foil. This allows you to easily clean the tray after cooking and will help stop the beans from sticking to the bottom of your tray. Once the tray is covered you should lay the green beans on the tray. Spread the green beans evenly along the tray so that they are all covered by the seasoning and that they cook evenly.

Once the beans are on the tray you should add the seasoning. To start you should drizzle olive oil on them, but ensure that you do not use too much. You should then add the salt, pepper and other seasoning that you are going to use. However, you should not add the cheese at this point if you are going to use it. After the seasoning has been added toss the beans so they are evenly coated.

Place the baking tray on the lower section of the oven and bake for 10 minutes. You should then take the pan out and turn the beans so both sides cook. Bake the green beans for a further 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes remove the roasted green beans from the oven and sprinkle the cheese on top. The heat from the beans will melt the cheese which adds to the taste and texture of the roasted green beans.

Roasted green beans are easy to make and a favorite for most families. They are a different spin to the traditional green beans and they can complement any meal. The best part is that they generally take only 20 minutes to make.
